Award-Worthy Bridal Beauty

2 looks inspired by fresh takes on classic red carpet style

Already have the perfect gown but no idea what look you want up top? Take a cue from one of the myriad options gliding down the red carpet during awards season. To get you started, here are two beauty expert-approved ideas for showstopper hair and makeup inspired by the latest Golden Globes glam.

Emma Stone

New York City-based celebrity makeup artist Daniel Martin loved that Stone's look was classic and chic, without appearing over-done. "The hair is swept back perfectly-unfinished, while her makeup is glowing and radiant," he says. "There's a little drama on the eyes with a top liner and a couple coats of mascara, but everything else is sculpted and shaded to look refined and effortless."

Martin's DIY Tip: If you have to choose between getting your hair or makeup done professionally, pick your hair because it's harder to accomplish complicated do's by yourself. Plus, you can always visit a makeup counter and have the resident artist show you how to accomplish the look you want for the price of the products you'll need anyway.

Christina Hendricks

Elizabeth Martinez, a freelance makeup artist and hair stylist in Austin and the San Antonio area, was a fan of Hendricks' updated vintage style. "Her eyes are the classic cat eye, while her curls are reminiscent of a 1940s Lana Turner but messier and therefore easier to achieve with a roller set or a medium-size curling iron and a good strong hairspray," she says.

Martinez's DIY Tip: For similar peepers that pop, use a waterproof liquid or pot liner (she recommends Makeup Forever), and stick to a simple champagne/beige background for the lid, such as Benefit's creaseless cream shadow/liner in "Birthday Suit." For the pout, apply a water, sweat and kiss-proof stain like Benefit's rose-hued "Benetint," followed by a sheer lipstick.
