"The hair is swept back perfectly-unfinished, while her makeup is glowing and radiant," he says. "There's a little drama on the eyes with a top liner and a couple coats of mascara, but everything else is sculpted and shaded to look refined and effortless." Martin's DIY Tip: If you have to choose between getting your hair or makeup done professionally, pick your hair because it's harder to accomplish complicated do's by yourself. Plus, you can always visit a makeup counter and have the resident artist show you how to accomplish the look you want for the price of the products you'll need anyway. "Her eyes are the classic cat eye, while her curls are reminiscent of a 1940s Lana Turner but messier and therefore easier to achieve with a roller set or a medium-size curling iron and a good strong hairspray," she says. Martinez's DIY Tip: For similar peepers that pop, use a waterproof liquid or pot liner (she recommends Makeup Forever), and stick to a simple champagne/beige background for the lid, such as Benefit's creaseless cream shadow/liner in "Birthday Suit." For the pout, apply a water, sweat and kiss-proof stain like Benefit's rose-hued "Benetint," followed by a sheer lipstick. |
