CTW Features
If, like most brides and grooms-to-be, your life is already beyond busy, it would be great if you could get in a little wedding planning while riding the train to work or waiting in line at the bank. But with so many applications for iPhones, iPods and iPads swimming around in the webosphere, it can be difficult to figure out which ones are actually worth your time and/or money.
To help you narrow it down, here are nine expert-approved apps that are guaranteed to make your big day – and the days leading up to it – a little brighter.
Tiffany & Co. Engagement Ring Finder (Free)
“This fab app lets your guy search Tiffany engagement rings by metal, setting, diamond shape and design,” says Yolanda Crous, articles editor for BRIDES magazine. The coolest feature? If he places one of your old rings on the sizing page, the app will calculate your ring size so he won’t have to pester your friends and family.
BRIDES Wedding Genius (Free)
Browse through hundreds of wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, jewelry galleries and honeymoon destinations. And if you’d rather not tote around a heavy wedding planner, $2.99 will upgrade you to the BRIDES Digital Wedding Binder app so that you can store inspiring photos and ideas electronically, as well as maintain your to-do list, get automatic reminders and manage your budget, guest list and vendor information.
Organizer – Google Calendar Support ($7.99)
Need help wrangling all your wedding details but would prefer an app that you could use well after the big day? This cool task-management tool allows you to write down text, create diagrams, store pictures and record contacts, as well as record and play voice memos, says Anja Winikka, senior editor for TheKnot.com
Wedding911 by The Knot (Free)
Get expert advice on everything from when to cut the cake to how to line up your bridal party. Post your questions and you’ll get speedy responses from other brides-to-be, as well as words of wedding wisdom from Knot editors. You can also scroll through 150-plus top wedding Q&As.
Anti-Bride (Free)
Modern couples who favor innovation and personal details over formal traditions and following the rules will benefit from easy access to this popular alterna-wedding blog. Get outside-the-box ideas and advice about wedding fashion, food, music, venues, honeymoons and much, much more.
Wedding Day ($.99)
This simple app allows enthusiastic brides and grooms to have a real-time countdown to their “I Do’s”, in years, months, weeks, days, hours and seconds, says Winikka.
SHAPE Bride: Shape Up For Your Wedding ($3.99)
The leading women’s health and lifestyle magazine helps brides lose weight, firm up and combat stress with 14 exercise routines, eat-right tips and low-cal recipes, as well as a six-month beauty countdown and strategies for finding the right gown for your body type.
Etsy Addict ($.99)
Etsy has become the go-to site for handcrafted wedding details, says Crous, from gorgeous jewelry, headpieces and cover-ups, to unique invitations, favors, hotel gift bags and more – including gowns! This app lets you search for goods on the go and boasts a built-in web browser that allows you to grab that amazing find before someone else does.
Top 100s by Year by Bing (Free)
Perfect your wedding playlist by browsing through the Top 100 songs for each year, from songs from 1947 to 2009. Crous suggests picking favorites from the years the two of you were born and the year you first met.
