Create the Experience Customize the gift bag to your wedding. “You need to first take into consideration where the wedding is happening,” says Black. Then think time of year when picking the contents of the welcome bag. “Your treats must be more unusual than what would already be in a hotel room,” advises Black. So skip the lotions and think creatively. Warm weather: Think sunglasses and flip-flops. Black worked with one couple that customized lip balm for their sun-filled wedding weekend. Cold weather: Add a layer of generosity with his and hers scarves. Black once helped a couple choose customized mittens for guests of their winter wedding in Chicago. Indulgent: Hot or cold, Black sees that a spa theme always pleases. Slippers and a scented candle melt any travel headaches instantly. Tourist treat: Black recommends choosing a souvenir from the host city for the goodie bag. For a recent Hollywood wedding, all guests got a ‘Welcome to Hollywood’ signature tee. For a Vegas wedding with a wild crowd, sin-city favorites filled the gift bags. “We added edible chocolate body paint with feather ticklers to get the Vegas mood set right away,” she says. Choose a gift bag from the same color scheme of your wedding. With the welcome note, use fonts similar to the fonts of the save-the-dates and invitations. And with every bag, include a snack. “You can customize anything today,” says Black so opt for a personalized pallet pleaser. Choose cookies, popcorn or even bottle of wine with a customized label.
