Who Says You Have To? On the big night, not every couple’s doing what you think they’re doing 
Just as the wedding day has its big reputation, so does the wedding night – if not more so. But that may just be a lot of talk and not a lot of follow-through. A recent survey by AreYouRomatic.com found that one in five couples admit to, well, not sealing the deal on their wedding night. The “Happy Honeymoon” poll, commissioned by Caesars Poconos Resorts, asked more than 500 men and women about their newlywed romantic activities, from honeymoon planning to the importance of matrimonial traditions. As to why one-fifth of couples didn’t do what’s expected: • 32 percent said they or their partner were too tired • 14 percent said they or their partner had too much to drink (women choosing this answer twice as often as men) • 11 percent said family and friends were still around • 10 percent said it just wasn’t important One instance doesn’t mean all tradition is cast aside however: 67 percent of respondents said they wouldn’t skip the reception to head to their honeymoon. A few other findings: • 70 percent of couples pay for the honeymoon themselves, despite the rise in popularity of honeymoon registries • 44 percent said “financial constraints” kept them from doing everything they wanted to do on their honeymoon |
