Beauty Treatment Timeline

Whether your beauty redo is drastic or cosmetic, make sure you're on schedule to look your wedding-day best

Bride applying makeup

Creating a special wedding-day look means perfecting a wedding-day beauty plan. Some brides-to-be start beauty preparations as much as 12 months before the big day. Ryan Lombardo, director of image enhancement, and Jacqueline Kim, spa director, of Chicago’s Tiffani Kim Institute, give a rundown on how to look runway-perfect on your wedding day.

12 months before wedding

Start getting facials —this can even begin 18 months before the wedding. Go at least once a month.

Begin laser hair removal. Appointments are based on your growth cycle — anywhere from four to eight weeks to even 12 weeks apart. If waxing, begin treatments; the aesthetician will tell you when to come back for your next appointment.

If weight loss is desired, have an initial nutritional counseling appointment. “No one really pulls off the 12-week plan,” says Lombardo. “Prepare for the six-month plan.”

Start any Botox, Juvaderm and Restylane treatments. They take a few months to resolve, so you want to start early to find the look you want for your wedding.

6 to 12 months before wedding

Begin once-a-month exfoliation treatments, such as a lavender salt glow.

Start once-a-week massages for de-stressing, which in turn helps complexion.

Begin a series of silk microderm abrasions, which infuses a topical solution into the skin to provide a healthy glow.

Begin photorejuvenation treatments to reduce fine lines and skin spots and improve skin tone and texture. Treatments should be done about every three weeks for 15-20 treatments.

Any plastic surgery should be done, as swelling can last for four to six months.

2 months before wedding

Get your final Botox/filler treatment before the wedding.

Begin airbrush tanning.

Start once-a-week manicures and every-other-week pedicures.

A detox seaweed body wrap will help purify and exfoliate the body and provides slimming benefits.

1 week before wedding

Reduce salt intake. This will prevent bloating and water retention.

No tanning beds or sun. Sunburn is hard to cover up.

No facials within five days of the wedding – do it a week before.

No new products.

Get your last manicure and pedicure two days before the big day.
