Your wedding is the one special day where all eyes are on you. And after those eyes check out your gorgeous gown, they’re going to be checking out your fancy hair-do. And if things are go as planned, your guests should be amazed, not dismayed. “Make sure that whatever you’re going to be doing with your hair is not too far away from who you are as a person,” says Ruth Roche, celebrity stylist and owner of Rare Salon in New York. “You could feel like you’re in costume.” To be sure your hair is a presentation of you and not your best attempt at a disguise, Roche strongly recommends a trial session with your nuptial-day hairstylist. This is a chance for the two of you to try out a few different styles and find something that works. Bringing in pictures of styles you DO like, not just ones you dislike, is a big help. If you’re getting married in a different city, do your trials with your regular stylist and take digital pictures to show the person who’ll be dressing your hair on the big day. As for styles, Roche says she has such much more brides wearing their hair down, half up/half down and in low chignons. “[It’s] gotten much more classic and simple than it used to be,” she says. “More elegant than trendy and over the top.” When it comes to deciding what style works for you, the best bet is to wait until your dress and any headpieces or flowers you’ll be wearing in your hair have been chosen. The more information you can provide your stylist the better. But don’t commit to anything further than two months from the big day – you’ll be more prone to change your mind. A few guidelines from Roche: • Back-exposed gowns work will with hair down. • The hair should complement the dress. A lot of ornamentation on the dress, the hair should stay simple. • If you’re in humid or rainy climates and your hair tends to go frizzy, wear it up in a bun or chignon. • Hairspray is great if you’re having a look that is going to stay that way. If it’s something that’s more free flowing, use a product that will hold before the hair is styled. Shine serum works well for both. |

If you use JavaScript tags for ad serving or site tracking, you can add them to your template, and manage your MiniSite pages with the same tools you use to manage the rest of your site.
